The latest research indicates that vitamin B12 may reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease. A Swedish study took blood samples from 271 people between the ages of 65 and 79 over seven years period. 17 people developed Alzheimer's. The risk increased 16% with every increment increase in homocysteine, an amino acid linked to poor brain function, but decreased 2% as levels of B12 increased.
