Antibiotics, Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis Link
In the December's issue of Reader's Digest it is reported that according to research information there may be a link with the use of "antibiotics" and "Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis disorders.
The western countries do have a reputation of antibiotic overuse. Not only are people being prescribed antibiotics regularly but we are also ingesting "residual" amounts of antibiotics that are found in many of our foods such as meats and dairy. These residual amounts may be small, however over a period of time they have an accumulative effects on humans who consume these foods.
Be sure to ask your health provider next time he or she prescribes antibiotics if they are absolutely necessary for your overall wellness, not just the short term effect but the long term effect as well.
Keep a record as to how many times per year you have had to take antibiotics. Proper use of antibiotics should be used with discretion and care and considering the long term effects.
There are times when antibiotics are absolutely necessary and when it does become necessary be sure to add to your daily diet a good pro-biotic. Be sure that your pro-biotics have a "true delivery" system built in the supplement. Many pro-biotics do not fare well in stomach acid environment.
Thousands of friendly bacterias are destroyed from the digestive juices if they are not protected by the "true delivery" system.

Flu Shots, Should I ?
We all know what flu shots are supposed to do, right?
Well there are increasing reports from people getting the flu shot to prevent the flu but instead end up getting the flu. What?
It's correct, it happened to a very close relative of mine as well as other folks I personally know.
The problem is that the vaccine is only good for a specific micro organism when the vaccine is manufactured, however what is usually not generally known by individuals is that micro organisms have a habit of mutating to other forms and thereby making the original vaccine usually ineffective.
What are the odds that this happens I cannot say, but it happens more often than not.
Use your judgement and common sense and be sure to discuss this point with your health care physician.

Multiple Sclerosis and Vitamin D
Higher levels of vitamin D may be beneficial in the risk reduction for multiple sclerosis according to a study in (Neurology 2/8/11).
Scientists at the Australian National University in Canberra also arrived to this conclusion after studying a number of people ages from 18 to 59 who showed the initial signs of MS, affecting the brain and spinal cord. It was concluded that those individuals who had higher vitamin D levels in their blood were statistically less likely to have early MS.

Reduced Heart Risk Linked to Multivitamins

B Vitamin Benefits
The latest research indicates that vitamin B12 may reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease. A Swedish study took blood samples from 271 people between the ages of 65 and 79 over seven years period. 17 people developed Alzheimer's.
